Want to Sell Your Boat? Boat Sales are Increasing

The Wasau Daily Herald reports that sales of recreational vehicles, pools and boats are increasing. This may surprise some, since the economy remains sluggish, but some people are taking a carpe diem approach to recreation. Life is short and there are no guarantees, why not have some fun?

One expert interviewed said that “a rebound in some customers’ 401(k) packages means they are willing to spend money, and sales of aluminum fishing boats, pontoon boats and personal watercraft are especially strong.”

Another person who in the business of selling recreation equipment noted that if gas remains less that $4 a gallon, people will still be likely to buy, while still another said that people prefer to invest in “permanent leisure purchases” rather than one-time vacations.

Other factors affecting boat sales are the unfortunate nature of natural disasters that have disrupted the supply chain and the fact that manufacturers are reluctant to overproduce inventory. If you have been thinking that you want to sell your boat online, this may be a good time to do so. People are looking for boats as way to enjoy the warm weather and they may not be willing to buy a new one or they may not find what they want.
