There have been reports that golfer Tiger Woods is thinking about putting his 155-foot yacht up for sale with an asking price of $25 million. This was the yacht that he had pointedly named Privacy, a moniker that was thought to reflect one of his most fervent wishes. Oddly enough, he ended up suing the maker of this boat because the manufacturer violated his privacy by indicating that he owned the boat in marketing communications.
The Wall Street Journal claimed that Woods might be spending $2 million every year in maintenance costs to keep the boat up and running. There is speculation that the cost of upkeep is one of the reasons that Woods wants to part ways with his luxury yacht.
When you buy a yacht, you do have to consider the cost of upkeep and factor that into your purchase. However it very unlikely that most people who buy yachts get ones that costs so much or require $2 million worth of maintenance on an annual basis.
