Her hull and deck are of fiberglass construction with balsa core. Her masts are made of laminated pine construction. Uniquely, she has a dual helm layout with a full helm below that keeps the captain undercover during a storm. The ENDURANCE 35 was designed in an international design competition organized by the late Amateur International Building Society (IABBS 's), where it won first prize in 1970.
